This is what we know:
• The House voted to send Central American children who are fleeing murder and rape back to the violence they escaped
• The House voted to gut DACA, which protects DREAMers who are American in all but paperwork
• The House voted to block the President from taking much-needed executive action
We know the Senate will stop this anti-immigrant legislation from going forward, but we also know that there is no way Congress can address our broken immigration system.
Here’s the bottom line: Congress has become such a mess that President Obama must take action. He must act to address the humanitarian emergency at the border, and he must act to protect those that would have been covered by the bi-partisan immigration bill.
President Obama has already said he’s “going to have to act alone” in the face of House obstruction, and they’re determined to stop him at all costs. It’s just another example of why President Obama must act for our families!
Call (202-456-1111) or email ([ http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments ]www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments) the President and tell him that if Congress won’t act, he must. Ask him to take immediate action to address the humanitarian emergency at the border, and to protect those that would have been covered by the bi-partisan immigration bill passed more than a year ago by the Senate. Ask him to stop deportations and keep families together.
And please start thinking about how we can make our voices heard during the August Congressional recess . . .
